PROUST’S WAY IN NABOKOV’S DESCRIPTIVE ART

Summary

Salient features of Nabokov’s emulation of Proust are considered in general terms, and his particular attention to Proust’s evocative metaphors is analyzed specifically for the instance of a delicately suggestive image of erotic awakening, “a strange castle in an unknown Spain”, in Speak, Memory (1966).
